A Family Business Since 1994 Making A Difference In The Community For Nearly 30 Years
Josh Wang, owner of both Westfield & Union locations, has had Manhattan Bagel roots in his family since the mid-90s. Josh’s father-in-law Sy Appelbaum first opened a Manhattan Bagel in Elizabeth, NJ in 1994. Sy then expanded operations to Union, NJ in 2002 & then Westfield, NJ in 2003. Sy retired in 2015 and Josh has since run both locations (Elizabeth location was sold to another owner in 2003). Both Sy & Josh discovered the secret to having a successful, delicious bagel shop and have followed their values & beliefs together for over 25 years. Many of their staff members at both locations have been there for the journey, making it a really personal experience for both longtime employees & longtime customers.
We pride ourselves on being immersed in the community by giving back to local schools and non profits that help to make the community a better place. We help to feed the homeless and farm animals by donating all unsold goods at the end of the day. We have many long standing employees in both locations with years of fantastic service to our business and our customers.
